ShackDesk apps are designed to respect your privacy. This page describes what data is collected, what is not, and how it is handled.
ShackDesk apps may collect anonymous diagnostic information to help improve device compatibility. This is strictly opt-in — nothing is sent without your explicit consent.
Data collected includes:
- Audio device and COM port names and hardware identifiers (VID/PID)
- App version and Windows version
- A randomly generated report ID (not linked to your identity)
This information helps us recognize and correctly classify hardware used by the ham radio community.
We never collect:
- Your name, callsign, or email address
- Your IP address or hostname
- Your location
- File system data or a list of installed software
- Any information about other software on your computer
Before any data is transmitted, you can review exactly what would be sent using the built-in data viewer: Help → View Collected Data.
You can change your data sharing preference at any time in Settings. You can also send a one-time manual report for troubleshooting purposes regardless of your sharing preference.
Submitted reports are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure and are used solely to improve ShackDesk's device compatibility database. Data is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
Shackdesk.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, request paths, timestamps) as part of normal hosting operations. ShackDesk does not have access to individual visitor logs and does not use tracking cookies or analytics scripts.
Questions about this policy are welcome in the GitHub Discussions for each app.
